Wall upgrades Max your walls. Sooner.

The short answer

Walls finish instantly, so the only limit is how much loot you put into them. Use Gold and Elixir once your walls reach level 5, upgrade many pieces at once, keep a Builder free when loot comes in, use Wall Rings where they count most, and spend spare loot before you log off.

How wall upgrades work

• Walls unlock at Town Hall 2.
• A wall upgrade has no build time. It completes as soon as you pay, but it still needs a free Builder.
• Until level 5, walls take Gold only. From level 5, you can pay with Gold or Elixir at the same cost.
• A whole row can use Elixir only when every piece in it is level 5 or higher.
• A Wall Ring pays for 1 million of an upgrade's cost, or part of a million. Each wall piece shows how many rings its next level needs.

Spend both resources

Once your walls are level 5 or higher, you have two storages to empty into them. After each farming session, check what your next building and research upgrades need. Keep that resource, and put the other one into walls.

If a few low pieces are still below level 5, finish them with Gold first. They stop the rest of their row from taking Elixir.

Upgrade in batches

1. Tap a wall piece, then use Select row to select the longest connected row.
2. Tap Upgrade all to upgrade every piece in that row that can go up a level.
3. Use Upgrade more to add pieces one or ten at a time.

Upgrade all does not appear when the row costs more than your storage can hold. Select fewer pieces and try again.

Keep a Builder free

Walls need a free Builder even though they finish instantly. If every Builder is busy on a long upgrade, new loot has nowhere to go and your storages overflow.

During heavy farming, start long upgrades with all but one Builder and keep the last one for walls.

Use Wall Rings well

Wall Rings are Magic Items you get from rewards such as Clan Games and the Trader. Because one ring covers up to 1 million of a wall's cost, a ring is worth the most on a wall whose cost is close to a whole number of millions. Check the ring count on a piece before you use rings on it.

Spend before you log off

Loot in your storages can be stolen while you are offline. Loot spent on walls cannot. Before you leave the game, put any spare Gold or Elixir into walls.
